Session 1: King of the Ring

Possession, Attacking, Defending Foundation Phase, Youth Development Phase 5–10 Players 20x20

Added January 2026

Each player has a ball and dribbles freely inside the area. Players must protect their own ball while attempting to knock other players' balls out of the grid. If a player's ball is knocked out, they move to an outer zone and continue playing until time is called.
Encourage close control using both feet Promote shielding with strong body position and balance Reinforce keeping the head up while dribbling Praise competitiveness, resilience, and effort
Reduce the size of the playing area to increase pressure and improve speed of decision-making. Restrict players to using their weaker foot only or introduce a countdown challenge to crown a final winner.
